Richard Collier and Harvey Sarner

Collier, Sarner & Associates began in 1971 when Harvey Sarner left the American Dental Association to begin his own law practice. While at the ADA, Harvey served as associate counsel, was instrumental in acquiring the current headquarters building, advised many of its councils, developed the members retirement program and negotiated many of its member insurance programs.

Harvey was a man of towering intellect, integrity, practical common sense, sensitivity and had an ability to explain complicated subjects to a room full of doctors and their spouses in a way that all could understand. Those qualities made him a popular lecturer and lawyer-adviser to doctors nationwide. Because so many doctors called each day, distracting him from his research and drafting, he began this twice-monthly Newsletter hoping to head off the calls by answering topical questions and dispensing practical ideas that were occurring to him and he knew would be helpful to his subscribers. His insights on management, law, taxes, insurance, investing and how to live a good life were so valuable and appreciated that the seminars and Newsletter grew beyond what he ever anticipated.

Harvey retired in 1987 having sold his practice to Richard Collier. At the time, Richard had been a practicing Cleveland attorney with nineteen years of legal experience primarily representing doctors. Displaying the same intellect and care for his clients, Richard picked up where Harvey left off. From 1987 until 2007, Richard expanded the Newsletter subscription base and the seminar schedule. And, like Harvey before him, Richard simply and practically showed his seminar attendees and Newsletter subscribers how to live good lives and become far wealthier than they ever expected.

In 2001, Brandon Collier joined the practice. Prior to that time, Brandon was a practicing attorney in a large national law firm. Richard and Brandon practiced together as partner until October 2008, when Richard passed away prematurely from cancer. Since then, Brandon has and will continue to write and edit the Newsletter, conduct the seminars and oversee the law practice with the same core values as his predecessors.
